Accessibility statement
Home-care information should be easier to use, especially when life feels stressful.
Ethical Care at Home is committed to accessible information, communication and service. We work to identify and reduce barriers and offer another way to get information when the website is not working for someone.

The short answer
What if someone has difficulty using the website?
Call 778-903-5683 or email info@ethicalcarehome.ca to ask for the information in another way or to report a barrier. Tell the team what format or communication method would help.
Website experience
Accessibility should be part of the design.
Ethical Care uses Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 Level AA as its design and testing target. This is a continuing goal, not a claim that every page or third-party item is fully conformant.
- Keyboard access, a skip link and visible focus
- Readable type, contrast and text resizing
- Clear headings, landmarks and descriptive links
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Labels, instructions and understandable errors
- Captions or transcripts when time-based media is used
- Support for reduced-motion preferences
- Responsive layouts for smaller screens and zoom
Our commitment
Ethical Care is committed to providing services without discrimination and to taking reasonable steps to accommodate disability-related needs, as required by applicable British Columbia human-rights law. Accessibility includes the website, communication choices and how a person can ask for information or service.
Our digital accessibility target
WCAG 2.2 organizes digital accessibility around content that people can perceive, operate and understand, using code that works reliably with current browsers and assistive technology. Ethical Care’s target is Level AA for public website pages and important digital documents that it controls.
A target guides design, development and testing. It is not a guarantee that every user will encounter no barrier.
How we work on accessibility
Accessibility is considered when pages, documents and features are created or revised.
- Use semantic headings, landmarks, labels and link wording that explain purpose.
- Support keyboard use, visible focus, zoom, reflow and reduced-motion settings.
- Give meaningful images text alternatives and keep decorative images out of the reading order.
- Check colour contrast, text size, touch targets and form instructions.
- Test important journeys with automated tools and manual keyboard review, then add assistive-technology testing as the site develops.
- Review accessibility feedback and correct barriers in order of impact and practical urgency.
Known limitations
Some linked third-party websites, documents or services are outside Ethical Care’s control and may not meet the same accessibility target. A new or complex website feature may also have a barrier that testing has not yet found.
If a page, document or feature is difficult to use, contact the team. We will try to provide the information another way while the barrier is reviewed.
Requesting an accommodation or another format
You can ask to receive website or service information by phone, email or another reasonable format or communication method. Ethical Care may ask what barrier you encountered and what would help, but you do not need to provide more disability or health information than is reasonably necessary to understand the request.
- Call 778-903-5683.
- Email info@ethicalcarehome.ca with “Accessibility request” in the subject line.
- Identify the page, document or service involved and the format or method that would help.
- If useful, name the device, browser or assistive technology involved.
How accessibility feedback is handled
Ethical Care will acknowledge the concern, review the barrier and respond with available options. Timing will depend on the nature of the request, safety, technical complexity and the availability of an accessible alternative. Feedback may be used to improve the affected page and prevent a similar barrier in future work.
Submitting accessibility feedback does not affect a person’s eligibility to ask about care. Service availability still depends on the person’s needs, location, requested schedule and appropriate staff.
Reviewing this statement
This statement will be reviewed when the website changes materially, when accessibility requirements affecting Ethical Care change, or when feedback identifies a gap. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision.
